Climate Change Officer (Projects Team - Two year fixed term contract)

Salary  Range £30,357- £37,318 (dependent on experience)

Spelthorne Borough Council is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual to support the development and delivery of a Climate Change Strategy for Spelthorne

Working with the Council’s Group Head Commissioning and Transformation and the Sustainability team, the Climate Change Officer will have the opportunity to influence the Council’s response to climate change through the development of the Strategy associated action plan and monitoring the Council’s progress to net zero.  The successful candidate will work with teams throughout the Council to ensure it is resilient to climate change, while supporting partners, businesses and communities to take forward carbon reduction, offsetting and adaptation initiatives.

Candidates will require a sound understanding of sustainable development, climate change monitoring and resource efficiency issues, including relevant legislation.  They should also have experience of policy / strategy development and have excellent interpersonal skills, including presenting technical information.

This post is a two-year fixed term post for 36 hours a week and will sit within the Council’s project team.
