About the role

We are looking for someone to become the Drug Impact Reduction Coordinator within Brighton and Hove Council's Safer Communities Team. This is a new post funded for three years.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering on existing priority actions to reduce the harm caused by drugs within Brighton and Hove, as set out in the city’s Exploitation and Serious Violence Action Plans (as outlined in the Community Safety & Crime Reduction Strategy 2020-23) and for demonstrating the impact of work currently undertaken and planned to tackle the harm drugs cause in our communities.

These priorities currently include community engagement to best understand the impact of drugs in the city, multi-agency work to reduce the impact of drugs on communities and vulnerable people, including work to address cuckooing, increasing public trust confidence  in reporting drugs harm to statutory agencies, and improving data collection, analysis and information sharing,

The post holder will be responsible for operational development and delivery of the relevant actions, working in partnership with key stakeholders including third sector organisations and local communities, and for developing and delivering a city-wide Drugs Summit.

The post holder will have responsibility for the performance management of the relevant actions within the Exploitation and Serious Violence Action Plans, demonstrating the impact of work to tackle the harm drugs cause in our communities working with the Exploitation & Violence Reduction Coordinator to hold partners to account as necessary.

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check as part of the recruitment process.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
