Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant

Frodsham Weaver Vale Primary School are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has recent and relevant experience of working with children with a range of SEN. The ideal candidate will be pro-active, have high expectations and the ability to work flexibly. Initially this will be a temporary contract, linked to individual pupil funding.

You will be working under the direct supervision of the Resourced Provision lead teacher (SENDCo) and the Year 1/2 Class Teacher. The role will include supporting and developing focussed learning activities tailored to meet the needs of the seven children within the provision and one child with Downs in Year 2.

You will be required to supervise the activities of the individual, as well as groups of pupils both in the provision base and within their mainstream classroom. This will include transition times during the day around school, to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development in accordance with the school's behaviour policy.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills. Ideally, they will have experience of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other areas of SEN.  Knowledge of social and emotional strategies would be of huge benefit. A firm but supportive approach is required, with the intuition to know when to provide independence versus support. First aid and Team Teach qualified would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.

Frodsham Weaver Vale Primary School is a popular school, housed at the heart of the Frodsham, Ship Street community. Our staff are a supportive team who encourage each other, working together to educate our young people and support our community. Governors and senior leaders are fully committed to develop and nurture your role through continuous professional development.
