Housing Support Officer - 2 Year Fixed Term

Experience the extraordinary with a move to Folkestone and Hythe District Council (F&HDC).

Folkestone & Hythe is a vibrant, connected and energetic district situated on Kent’s south coast and under an hour away from London via High Speed rail. We are supportive of home working, have a flexible working culture, corporate memberships and rewards, Employee Assistance Programme, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

This is a new and exciting opportunity to play a central role in providing essential housing support to some of those most in need. Operating as the key point of contact between the council’s housing teams and professionals in the probation and prison service, you will run housing surgeries and provide comprehensive housing advice to offenders, including those leaving prison, with a local connection to the Folkestone & Hythe area.

You will need to have a sound knowledge of public and private sector housing options, a good understanding of the relevant legislation, and experience of working with vulnerable clients and related advice and support services in order to complete housing assessments effectively and maximise interventions.

You will be able to operate on your own initiative, independently managing your caseload and pro-actively providing the best options in a range of individual circumstances. But this role relies on effective partnership working, and if you’ve got the communication and interpersonal skills to quickly build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders and the passion to make a difference then we want to hear from you

Appointment to this post is subject to receipt of satisfactory enhanced disclosure check from the Disclosure and Barring Service and satisfactory references.
