Relief Screening Officer

We care about the wellbeing of Berkshire residents. And our dedicated out of hours social care provision helps us to protect some of our most vulnerable residents. We work with health colleagues, families and the police to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment to help people live as independently – and fully – as possible. Our Screening Officers act as first point of contact for members of the public and partner agencies with enquiries or concerns about a child, young person or vulnerable adult, providing appropriate information and advice. But you’ll have excellent support from your manager, and expert guidance on hand whenever you need it. You’ll also have the time to go above and beyond, along with the chance to express your ideas about how we can make our service even better.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training...

You will be supported to work as a part of a varied and dedicated team in an environment that will provide you the opportunity to develop new skills as a frontline screening officer.

  • To be part of the team providing crisis social work intervention.
  • To act as the single point of contact for members of the public and partner agencies.
  • To process and screen incoming referrals.
  • To undertake database checks.
  • Provide accurate signposting information.
  • To be prepared to undertake training for Appropriate Adult role.

What we're looking for...

We are looking for individuals with patience, empathy, open-minded and ability to relay difficult decisions, prioritise own workload and attention to detail. We want screening officers with good ICT literacy, who is able to record, update and prioritise referrals in line with the services policies and procedures. The service requires someone with motivation to safeguard and support vulnerable people and children in the community.
