An exciting new role as a Domestic Abuse Act Support Officer required for Brent

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

You will be joining a creative and fast-paced team, driving our core ethos of delivering the best possible outcomes for victims and survivors of domestic abuse in Brent. The role is a new addition to the team; therefore, we are looking for a confident and experienced officer to support the improvement of community safety and social outcomes in Brent, with a specific focus on the progression and development of the council’s response to domestic abuse.

The post holder will be required to co-ordinate the council’s response to the duties and responsibilities coming out of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, working in partnership with other relevant agencies/organisations on the implementation of specific projects and initiatives.

The Person

The role will require a dynamic, yet versitile individual with working experience and knowledge of the domestic abuse and violence against women and girls sector.  You will need to be up to date with recent national legislative changes in relation to domestic abuse and housing, with a particular focus on the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

Experience of navigating and working with multiple agencies with conflicting priorities and demands, will translate well into this role. You will need good communication skills and be motivated to create change to ensure optimal engagement from key stakeholders.  The ability to produce and deliver reports and briefings to a variety of different audiences is essential.

The role requires excellent organisational skills, experience of programme governance, development and implementation and an ability to work under pressure, managing conflicting deadlines, resources and tasks simultaneously. You will also have the ability to work well both as an individual and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic. We are looking for a creative person, with new ideas and initiatives to drive innovation in the council’s response to domestic abuse.
