Deputy Finance Manager

We are looking for a Deputy Finance Manager who will be comfortable being at the heart of the Finance Leadership Team to drive the team forward and ensure the Council seize opportunities to innovate and continue to provide high quality services.  We want to be the best Finance team we can be and we also want to enjoy ourselves whilst we do it!

About you…

  • CCAB Qualified
  • Experience of budget setting, preparing final accounts and maintaining medium term financial plans
  • Experience of implementing and managing change and service improvement
  • Experience of providing financial advice and support to operational staff and senior management
  • In depth knowledge of accounting and financial management regulations and practice
  • Highly numerate, able to analyse and interpret complex financial information for presentation to a wide range of people
  • Experience of managing resources including staff management

About the role…

The Deputy Finance Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Act as the Finance Representative, providing advice and support for corporate projects as directed by the Finance Manager
  • Support the Council and Directorates in producing accurate monthly performance information for monitoring and decision making purposes
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of the Final Accounts to a high quality and delivered within all reporting deadlines
  • Maintain the Medium Term Financial Plan under the direction of the Finance Manager including modelling different financial scenarios and assumptions

The successful applicant will be a key part of a forward thinking and innovative finance team that provides professional accountancy services to support delivery of Financial and Corporate Accounting services.
