If you answer ‘yes’ to these questions, then we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are looking for an apprentice to join our Development Team working alongside our Park Rangers and our Environmental Programme Officer.

You will gain valuable work experience, work with a great team and develop your skills and knowledge by undertaking a recognised qualification; Level 2 Countryside Worker.

You will support the Rangers to ensure that the Parks and other green spaces within the district are safe, enjoyable, educational and great places to visit. You will work with volunteers and colleagues to liaise with local schools, youth groups and other groups to run guided walks and coordinate activities encouraging people to use these wonderful spaces and will also carry out minor repairs and maintenance to ensure that the spaces are well kept and assist with the collection of data to monitor usage of the facilities.

You must be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions, be flexible in your approach to tasks and have the ability to adapt to a varied workload. The successful candidate will have English and Maths GCSE at 4/C or above, or equivalent, or the ability and willingness to work towards functional skills in these areas. You will also have genuine enthusiasm for conservation, countryside management and the environment and enjoy communicating with a wide range of people.

The role will include working at various locations and you must be able to travel within the district as well as be happy to travel to Derby College as required for your qualification.
