Covid 19 Outbreak Hub Environmental Health Officer

Grade PO4

The purpose of the Wirral COVID-19 Outbreak Hub is to prevent, control and manage outbreaks across all settings in Wirral in line with the Local Outbreak Management Plan.

As one of the environmental health officers working within the Hub you will play a key role in investigative COVID-19 response work.  You will visit local businesses to educate, support compliance and, where necessary, to enforce control measures.  On receiving concerns about businesses and individuals not complying with the relevant regulations, you will conduct investigations, draw up insightful reports and work alongside the wider Environmental Health and Enforcement Teams in Wirral.  You will have a collaborative, non-combative approach to businesses but will have the capacity to act decisively to tackle those that do not co-operate and/or commit to adhering to COVID-19 regulations. You will work flexibly to respond to fast-changing situations such as spikes and clusters in infections, emerging variations and new diseases.  Whilst some of the work will be completed from home, you will be expected to carry out physical visits throughout the district when necessary.

You will also be required at times to deputise for the Prevention and Control Team Leader.
