ABOUT THE JOB

In the role of the Social Care Academy Service Manager you will be responsible for creating and managing the learning and development opportunities for the children’s social work workforce, supporting them to develop their knowledge, skills and professional capabilities and for driving and developing Newham as a learning organisation.

The Social Care Academy includes the Learning and Development Team, and a team of Practice Development Social Workers, you will also be responsible for the implementation and delivery of the ASYE programme and you will work alongside a team of Family Therapists.

This post reports to the Principal Social Worker, Children and Families.

This is an opportunity   to lead a service that supports social care practitioners to shape, develop and create new ways to practice. You will be required to lead and develop a service that is integral to supporting social care practitioners to balance imagination with rigour. Leading a service that provides the resources and opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to build trusted relationships with the families they work with and achieve the change needed to live safe and independent lives. This is also an opportunity for you to lead a service that makes a real difference in enabling and supporting social care practitioners to achieve their career ambitions and aspirations

You will play a key role in leading and driving a learning organisation. Moving away from a compliance driven culture to one focused on learning and reflection creating the conditions where social work can flourish.
