Health Improvement Coordinator (Tobacco Control)

Medway Public Health are currently seeking to recruit a Health Improvement Coordinator (Tobacco Control) to support the government’s ambition of reducing smoking prevalence to 5% or less by 2030. The successful candidate will be based within the Tobacco Control team and will assist the Health Improvement Project Officer with the implementation of tobacco control and harm reduction projects in Medway.

The ideal candidate will be a good listener and enjoy working with people to help them make positive lifestyle changes. The ability to engage service users including those who may have complex health and social factors impacting their lives, as well as influencing smokers who may be ambivalent or resistant to change, are crucial attributes for the successful candidate.

The postholder will be required to coordinate and support on a variety of tobacco control activities and communications with a range of stakeholders. These include meetings, training and representing the service at public facing events.

The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time permanent contract. Working hours will include some shifts outside of 9am – 5pm and may include some Saturdays. A full, clean driving licence and access to your own car is essential.

Experience in smoking cessation is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
