There is lots happening when it comes to our economic growth and regeneration. Our local economy is not immune to ongoing challenges nationally in terms of unemployment, declining industry sectors, vacancies, and retaining footfall, activity, and vibrancy. Recently the pandemic has made this situation more challenging, and there is a requirement to support adaption and repurposing. However the Council has a very active Economic Growth Team who provide a fantastic service in supporting businesses and individuals through information, advice and guidance, grant support, site and property, training & skills courses and events.

As Economic Growth Officer you will be a key member of the team, the core focus of your role is to support business and industry to grow and diversify within the Newark & Sherwood area. You will provide a high quality and efficient service to business, partners and stakeholders in delivering inward investment, business support, skills, property enquiries, and industry growth. You will need to demonstrate a track record of communicating and working with a range or partners including business, business groups, enterprise agencies, government departments in delivering economic development. You will be responsible for commissioning, contract managing, negotiation and delivery of projects and programmes that support economic growth and will participate and present to different groups and networks.

The Council promotes a culture of flexible / agile working and we are happy to discuss suggestions as to how the responsibilities of this role can be met through a flexible approach to hours and / or location. Further this role could be undertaken on a job share basis.
