Mental Health Support Worker

The starting salary for this position is £24,780 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Surrey wide Reablement Service supporting our residents with mental health problems to engage with a reablement programme.

These 4 posts will sit within our wider team of Reablement Workers bringing more specialist skills and experience to the team regarding this client group. Joining us as a Mental Health Support Worker, you will be doing something that really matters.

We have 4 positions available in:

  • North West and Surrey Heath
  • Guildford and Waverley
  • Mid Surrey
  • East Surrey

Working within the community we promote people regaining or acquiring daily living skills and general wellbeing in line with what is important and meaningful to the them. You will be using a strengths-based approach to achieve agreed outcomes.

Working autonomously, it will be your job to provide support with all daily living tasks, including personal care, medication and mobility. You'll be there to ensure dignity, choice and control is maintained for those people receiving the service. They will look to you for support and guidance, a helping hand and most importantly; the development of their reablement programme, allowing them to live a more independent and fulfilled life.

You'll come to us with a real passion to help others. A natural communicator, you will be able to adapt your communication style to deal with sensitive and sometimes difficult situations to meet the needs of this client group.

To be shortlisted for interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • You either hold or are able to work towards an NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification, or have equivalent experience
  • You have significant experience of working (either in a professional or voluntary capacity) with individuals with mental health problems
  • You have the ability to build effective relationships with a range of people who use our services, including those with a mental health diagnosis and colleagues
  • You can demonstrate an understanding of the use of strength-based practice
  • You have a valid UK driver's licence and access to a car with insurance (which you will need to visit people in their own homes)
  • Satisfactory DBS clearance will be required
