Contract Type – Permanent, part time, Term Time only

Oak View Academy is looking to appoint a dynamic, engaging and organised school cook from October 2021. This position is a part time permanent position. It is important that the right person is available for handover with our current school cook before the autumn half term (week beginning 18th October, or sooner). We are looking for someone who really cares about food and wants to help our children eat healthily and will improve the quality of the dishes we offer our children.

At Oak View Primary Academy we are proud to deliver a rich creative learning experience that enables all the children to fulfil their potential.

Our vision puts children first. When children enjoy all aspects of school and are enthusiastic, independent learners they gain the most from their education.

We believe this climate for success is delivered through the creation of an equal partnership between children, parents and the school.

At Oak View Primary Academy we have lower than average class sizes and our focus is on the wellbeing of the children we support, as well as their education. We encompass a holistic approach to the curriculum and offer our students opportunities many other schools can’t. Examples of this are the residential visits, free-swimming lessons and wrap around club. Our curriculum is more than just learning, it is about opening the children’s eyes to the world of possibility around them.

We are looking to appoint a School Cook who is comfortable with not only preparing the meals every day but also a willingness to get fully involved in the school life of a child by running theme days and getting involved with cooking in class. As a forward-thinking school, we have a culture of continuous improvement. As a member of our team, any ideas you have will be welcomed as we believe our staff are an important element in us offering the best education for our children.

Job Role:-

  • Order stock from suppliers;
  • cook high quality meals to the high standards already in place;
  • work with catering consultant to create menus which are delicious and nutritionally balanced;
  • manage the morale of the kitchen team;
  • manage and maintain the health and safety systems in place;
  • keep with the purchasing budgets;
  • supervise the work of the catering staff;
  • carry out theme days and cooking lessons in class.

To join us and be successful, you will need to have a catering background with the relevant qualifications; be subject to a Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas police check (if applicable) and professional reference checks; have the legal right to work in the UK; be trustworthy and an upstanding member of the local community; care about food, it's presentation and how it impacts on a healthy lifestyle.
