Emergency Duty Team Manager

The starting salary for this position is £45,734 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

At Surrey, our Children Services are on a rapid journey of transformation, with a dedicated permanent senior leadership team in place.

A pivotal part of this transformation journey is to ensure that we have managers in place who are motivated in creating an environment where talent is nurtured and people are supported to be the best they can be.

It is not possible to provide great services without a fundamentally close connection with our children and families and that is why Surrey implement the Family Safeguarding model. This model is strength based and includes professionals who work with adults in teams supporting children and their families. Surrey is bringing together Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners and Psychologists so that the whole team can address all the issues facing a family.

The model includes the implementation of modern telephony systems, innovative ways of recording as well as enhanced communication and work with the day time services." Your role as a Team Manager in the Emergency Duty Service is to help your team of experienced Social Workers and Senior Practitioners build strong networks with partner agencies and day time services, ensuring that children are safeguarded during out of hours.

Throughout all that you do, you will ensure that your team upholds and champions best practice so that together, we are focused on solving problems and we meet the needs of our Children, Young People and their families; reducing the risk of harm.

Your responsibilities as the Team Manager will include:

  • Lead, manage and motivate staff
  • Manage and oversee the performance of the team
  • Lead and manage good practice
  • Manage team budgets effectively

To be shortlisted for interview for this role, your CV and personal statement should clearly evidence the following:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
  • A valid registration with Social Work England
  • Significant experience of working within Children and Families Teams, which may include Emergency Duty or Front Door services
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Experience of working within child protection and court work
  • Must hold a full UK Driving Licence
