We are looking to recruit a Bereavement Services Officer to support the delivery of our caring, professional and high quality bereavement service.
You will be responsible for the day to day administration and organisation of the service, linking in with operational teams at our cemeteries.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of achievement, a self- motivated and enthusiastic individual to assist in the day to day running of the services. Reporting to the Bereavement Services Manager, you will be responsible for receiving and dealing with enquiries from the public and liaising with funeral directors and clergy in person, by phone and letter / email including associated payment transactions. This will also include accepting and processing documents (including legal documents), handling cremated remains caskets, burial registers and plaques and on site burial / chapel attendance duties.
You should hold or be able to achieve an Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) certificate in Cemetery Management or Office Management.
You should also have experience in an administrative capacity in a related environment linked to bereavement or a care-based industry dealing with the bereaved. Experience of using computerised administration systems with sound knowledge of database input and interrogation is essential.
You will be dealing with the bereaved in often stressful circumstances; it is therefore essential that you have a high level of empathy and good communication and customer care skills.
