Project Manager - Remote Working

The starting salary for this role is £40,227 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We're less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the people rather than the postcode. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we'd welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like for you.

Surrey County Council is undergoing a period of significant change. In the context of shifting resident demands, the increasing need to deliver value for money, and our ambition to be a leading council we need to rethink and reassess what we do and how we do it.

We have embarked upon a journey of significant transformation within Adult Social Care which consists of a number of key programmes that are critical to our ambition to support individuals and communities to have independent and fulfilling lives, whilst ensuring that our services are effective and financially sustainable. We therefore require experienced programme managers to drive the delivery of these projects, ensuring that they deliver the required outcomes on time and to budget.

Our transformation programmes in Adult Social Care cover a range of areas, including practice improvement (including the embedding of our strengths-based approach), learning disabilities and autism, mental health, market management, and accommodation with care and support. The projects and workstreams include new ways of working and operational improvement, systems and digital development, service model design and implementation, organisational development, commissioning, and so on.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • The experience and ability to manage multiple projects across definition, design and delivery phases - ensuring high quality governance, planning, reporting, financial monitoring arrangements are in place
  • Excellent communication, networking and influencing skills - with experience of working with a broad range of stakeholders, internally and externally, at all levels to drive forward project delivery and to provide constructive challenge
  • Strong organisational and business change experience - with an understanding of what it takes to enable transformational change in support of better outcomes for residents
  • “Hands on” project management experience - with the ability to proactively develop plans, briefs, manage risks and issues, working collaboratively with teams and partners to enable progress and support benefits realisation.

We are not looking for a subject matter expert or service manager – we want to hear from professional programme managers who relish a challenge and are interested in the transformation of Adult Social Care.

The role is fixed term for 1 year with the potential to extend depending on the needs of the programmes. The starting salary is from £40,227 per annum and is accompanied by a generous holiday and benefits package. Please note, it is SCC policy for new employees to commence at the beginning of the relevant salary range with limited exceptions. The role is scoped as full time but we would encourage individuals with flexible working requirements to apply.

If you are a driven, enthusiastic, and an ambitious project manager then we want to hear from you!

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
