Transport Inspector

We are looking for a Transport Inspector. Our Transport Services are dedicated to transporting members of the Rutland community around the county and beyond, in addition to transporting Rutland children with complex care needs from home to school and back. This role give you a chance to become part of a reliable and efficient team, delivering high standard passenger transport services throughout the county. If you are a welcoming, self- motivated individual with the ability to manage your time effectively, we would love to hear from you!

 

About you…

  • Educated to GCSE standard
  • Confident with previous experience of delivering a service directly to the public, including contract enforcement
  • Experienced in delivering a high standard of customer care
  • Approachable with excellent communication skills, able to liaise with members of the public, parents, schools, and senior officers
  • Good IT skills with the ability to maintain accurate, up to date records and provide statistical data when required
  • You will need to hold a standard, current driving licence

 

About the role…

As the Transport Inspector you will be responsible for the following:

  • Inspecting and surveying all transport contracts to ensure the safe and timely operation of services to the public
  • To report on findings and to maintain records in order to support the production of key management and statutory statistical data
  • To provide bus punctuality statistics to the Transport Operations Manager when required
  • To assist with the on-going task that bus shelters, stops, poles and timetable cases are fit for purpose and display accurate information. Taking steps to undertake minor “on the spot” repairs as necessary, or making sure that faults are reported so that other remedial steps can be taken

 

Please note, whilst based at our site in Ashwell, this role involves spending much of the working day out and about on the streets, interacting with members of the public.

 

The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS is paid by us.

 

The Transport Inspector interviews will be held during week commencing 04 October 2021. Please note that this may be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.
