Our children’s social care workforce is expanding. 

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Team Manager on a 18 month fixed term contract. This position is within our Assessment part of our Contact, Advice and Assessment Service (CAAS):

Who we are:

CAAS is the ‘front door’ for West Berkshire’s Children and Family Services and covers all of West Berkshire.  This highly motivated and enthusiastic team is based in our Newbury office alongside our multi agency partners in MASH/Triage, Early Response Hub, Assessment, and our My Family First early intervention service.

The team feeds into our two locality safeguarding teams in the West and East of the area, as well as our Children with Disabilities Team.   

Our commitment is to ensure that children are safe and protected through the early identification and assessment of risk and need, providing families with timely interventions.  This process identifies appropriate services to help children and their families achieve their potential and make a positive difference to their lives.  

We are looking for experienced and dynamic children’s Assistant Team Manager. In the role you will champion the rights of our children and young people whilst ensuring they remain supported and safeguarded.

You will be a vital enabler of improving outcomes for children, young people and their families. Working directly with our partner agencies and combining expertise to support our Family Safeguarding Model within our ‘front door’ of West Berkshire Children’s Services.

Your experience

You will be an experienced manager contributing towards providing motivational leadership and management of a team. Inspiring them through reflection, critical analysis, performance management, and prudent allocation and oversight of cases and resources.

It is essential that you hold a current Social Work England registration and a full driving licence with use of a car.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
