More about the role:

 

Central Bedfordshire Council is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join its growing Flood Risk Management Team.

 

Reporting to the Council’s Principal Drainage Engineer, you will lead an exciting DEFRA funded project seeking to apply innovative approaches for the management of flood risk, community resilience and environmental gains.

You will have a working knowledge and experience of flood risk management and/or managing large scale infrastructure projects and business case development. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of project management and delivery across a number of key projects and partners.

 

You will facilitate start-up of the project, finalisation of the project plan and business case, and oversee future implementation of project aims over the programme period. You will provide the day to day management and set the strategic direction for a project team of consultants, flood risk professionals, academics and a wide range of partnerships delivering environmental and biodiversity improvements at the catchment scale. Experience of working with and co-ordinating successful partnerships will be key.

 

Key duties of the role will include:

  • To be the lead point of contact and responsible for the implementation of the DEFRA funded innovation project.
  • To lead the project board and co-ordinate partners.
  • Establish the approach to procurement and governance.
  • Finalisation of the business case, costings and project plan / programme.
  • Delivery of the programme over the project period.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project aim and objectives, in line with the programme.
  • Overseeing finances of the project, procurement and spend.
  • Take an active role in stakeholder and community engagement as may be required to deliver the programme.
  • Co-ordinate delivery of the programme with wider flood risk objectives and projects of the Council.
