Are you ready to start your career as a professional planner? Are you currently working within planning and want to experience working for a local planning authority? Or perhaps a relocation to our district is what you have been seeking?

Do you want to be at the forefront of new thinking in planning? Do you want to be part of a friendly and supportive team that cares about the development that will shape both our urban and rural environment in south Essex?  Do you want to earn a competitive salary and work for an authority who are committed to investing in the progression of their staff? Then look no further.

About us

We are a proactive local planning authority in south east Essex. We have a 6.3-year supply of land for housing, a complete local development plan supporting and directing the future growth and prosperity of the district up to 2025; a review of which is well underway. We process over 1200 applications per annum, and this year is seeing a high increase on that figure, all whilst achieving government targets on delivery. We have a busy and effective Planning Enforcement team that work hard to protect our district and our Economic Development team work effectively collaborating with other departments and our partners to support our businesses and encourage inward investment in our district.  We are a great team.

About the role

We are now looking for two Planner's to join our Development Management team.

You will be supported in your development within the role with the opportunity to undertake further post graduate study if required.  Responsibilities will include assessing planning applications, undertaking site visits, writing reports and engaging in correspondence and discussion with applicants, their agents, members of the public, your colleagues and our elected Members; a full job description of the main tasks involved with the role is appended to this advert.

About you

You must be extremely well-organised, self-motivated and flexible and have a keen interest in planning with a thirst for learning.  We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, forward thinking and a good team player.

It is essential that you hold a degree qualification to be considered for this role. A post graduate degree in planning is desirable but not essential.

This is a permanent post and a full time role, which for the right candidate is a fantastic opportunity to join our team. Are you up for the challenge?
