The Governors of St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School wish to appoint a Learning Mentor. They will understand the need for (and have some experience of) a variety of vulnerable pupil support programmes and be able to access the electronic systems for recording work completed with pupils and families.

Our Learning Mentor will provide a complementary service to teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of learners who require help in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential. They will work with a range of learners but priority will be given to those who need the most help (especially those experiencing multiple disadvantages).  The variety of tasks covered is vast and will range from: monitoring absence/punctuality, supporting staff in dealing with challenging behaviour, offering support to parents and families through Team Around the Family meetings and assessing needs through the Early Help Framework.

We offer a warm, welcoming and friendly working environment with a highly supportive and happy team. The role is a challenging one and the successful candidate will need to be resilient, adaptable and energetic.

Candidates should:

  • Be committed, caring, patient and show great initiative
  • Be able to provide support and care in a kind manner appropriate to working with vulnerable pupils and families
  • Be able to work closely with Class Teachers and other team members
  • Be flexible, reliable and a consistent team player

The successful candidate will be subject to satisfactory references.
