Learning Support Assistant

Lister Community School is a large 11-16 comprehensive school in Plaistow. Our vision is to provide a world class education for young people in Newham. Lister is a Foundation School, and, together with three other secondary schools in Newham, has been collaborating for over five years as part of the Newham Community Schools Trust. Through this partnership, staff have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with colleagues from other schools.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This appointment will be conditional on successful pre-employment and enhanced DBS checks.

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work with students and staff to maximise the learning opportunities for all students, especially those with special educational needs and complex needs. The successful applicant will have experience or interest in working with students with a range of abilities.

You will also have good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work flexibly and cooperatively in a team context. Appropriate and accurate use of English in written and oral communications and good organisational skills are also required. A commitment to working in a multicultural setting and with students from diverse backgrounds.
