Contracts Specialist (Level 1)

Contracts Specialist

The Procurement & Contracts team provides internal advice and support on procurement and contract management matters and is responsible for the management of a number of corporate contracts, covering corporate sites (e.g. libraries, corporate buildings, community centres, etc.) and some school sites within Wokingham Borough Council.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Specialist with contract management experience and a good understanding of facilities management and catering. This role will have a contract management focus and will be responsible for the management of day-to-day operations relating to the Corporate Cleaning Services contract and the School Meals and Kitchens contract. The role will involve visits to client sites where necessary (mostly schools and corporate sites), productive management of relationships with contractors and clients, as well as support on the management of other corporate contracts, administrative support and participation in procurement activities. Although support and mentoring will be available, contract management experience would be advantageous.

The role has a great level of personal responsibility, including relationship management, performance management and risk assessment. Innovation and proactiveness will be highly desirable and taking ownership on the allocated tasks will be a key requirement for this role.
An excellent communicator, you should be customer focused and capable of developing good relationships with external parties, maintaining high levels of speed and accuracy whilst managing competing priorities. We are looking for people with outstanding organisational skills who are passionate about efficiency, consistently strive to improve the quality of their own and the team's overall performance and would successfully cooperate with the other members of the team to achieve the team's objectives. Training in some of the areas could be provided for the right candidate having exceptional skills and experience in most of the other key areas.

Closing date for applications: 11pm on 11th October 2021
