Disabled Facilities Grant Officer

This is a newly created role, funded by the Better Care Fund, and an exciting opportunity to work for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead in the busy Residential Services team. 

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) specialist, who will ensure the effective delivery of home adaptations to residents in their homes. You will possess sound technical knowledge and a knowledge of relevant legislation including (but not limited to) the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. 

You will act as first point of contact for the receipt of referrals and requests for grants and loans. You will also be advising and determining eligibility chairing the DFG panel and progressing applications for mandatory and discretionary grant assistance with reference to appropriate legislative and policy provisions. You will also train and support Environmental Health Technical Officers and Environmental Health Officers in the process of DFGs to ensure that the Council’s statutory duties and are met. 

If you are able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, can organise and prioritise your own workload, have good IT skills and are keen to make a difference to our residents we would like to hear from you. A full driving licence and use of a car is essential. 

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council is geographically set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse. There are excellent transport connections to London (30 minutes by train) from Maidenhead with the Town Hall being a ten-minute walk from the train station.
