Are you looking to develop your career and are ready for a challenge; do you have a health and social care diploma or Registered Manager qualification, extensive experience of working with older people, excellent communication skills, commitment, a vision of the future and an ethical, values based approach to your work? If so, then you have the ethos and skills we are looking for.

West Berkshire Council is looking to recruit a Registered Manager for our Nursing Home at Birchwood Care Home, Newbury which provides residential and nursing care for elderly residents, many of whom will have a diagnosis of dementia.

As a provider of services we aim to offer a friendly, safe and secure environment.  Services are delivered within the context of our values; Respect, Inclusive, Compassion and Empowerment. Those values dictate how we support our residents, their families and each other.

We are looking for a Registered Manager who will take responsibility for the delivery of a safe, secure and supportive service, continue the development of best practice and the staff team within the Home.

We believe our residents have choices about their care, and we promote independence as much as possible. We aim to offer social and emotional support to our residents in order to meet their individual needs.

West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 29 days per annum rising to a maximum of 34 days after 5 years’ service.
