Senior Governance Officer

The borough of Basildon is alive with opportunity and has the ingredients to be one of the most successful and desirable places in the South East. As the largest economy in the Thames Estuary outside London, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved but we are never complacent. We are driving inclusive, sustainable growth to provide opportunity and prosperity for local people and businesses, access to quality homes, vibrant town centres and an enhanced local environment.

We are now looking to recruit a Senior Governance Officer, who will provide a high quality service supporting meetings of Council, its committees and key partnerships, some of which take place in the evening. The successful applicant will also support the wider decision making and democratic processes within the Council, working in accordance with legislation and the Council’s Constitution. You will liaise regularly with the Council’s Senior Leadership Team and Councillors to support collaborative working arrangements.

Working within a small team of colleagues with a high degree of autonomy, this position represents exciting career development opportunities in a professional and flexible environment. Previous experience of Committee management, ideally within a Local Authority or other public sector setting, is essential.

If you feel that you have the necessary qualities that it takes to join our team then we would very much like to hear from you.
