Schools Finance Officers: Grade 5 - £22,183 - £24,491 (Permanent, Full or Part-Time)

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative individual to work in the Schools Finance Team, providing effective financial advice, practical support, and valuable training opportunities to schools within Wokingham Borough.


Working within the Finance Business Partnering team, the team works closely with School Business Managers, as well as colleagues in Children’s Services, playing an important role in assisting schools and the Local Authority in fulfilling their statutory finance duties and responsibilities.


About you:


The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative, taking ownership of their work, with the ability to interpret, extract and assess important information, especially numerical data. You will have a commitment to embracing change, striving to continually improve, as well as a strong customer service ethos and excellent communication skills.


You should be capable of working in an accurate and organised way and have a good eye for detail, assisting with improvements to make the team more efficient. It is essential that you can work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and adopt a flexible approach.


Please note that while the Council operates a flexible working policy, this post is most suited to full-time working. There will be occasions where there is a requirement to finish work where statutory or corporate deadlines need to be met.

This opportunity is open on both a full and a part-time basis, so hours and working pattern are negotiable.

You will be based in Wokingham town centre, a short walk from the railway station and easily accessible by car.  Currently most staff at WBC are working from home in accordance with government guidelines.  The future working pattern is likely to be a combination of flexible home working and office based.
