More about the role:
In Children’s Services, we’re determined to safeguard and protect vulnerable children. Our Fostering team work with foster carers to bring children up safely and help them achieve their potential. It’s all about creating better outcomes and a bright new generation for our community. Help children to thrive by supporting foster carers, and you could find your greatness.

We are currently advertising for supervising social workers.  Being a Fostering Social Worker is an important and rewarding role. You’ll be part of a dedicated team with an excellent record of recruiting and supporting foster carers. You’ll make sure that each Foster Carer understands their role and responsibilities, meeting them monthly and making sure they feel valued. By monitoring each carer closely, you’ll make sure they’re coping and meeting children’s needs – particularly those who exhibit challenging behaviour.  When completing reviews, you will work closely with foster carers to assess their strengths and vulnerabilities as foster carers and what support and care they can provide to children in order for them to achieve their best outcomes.

It's essential that you are a qualified Social Worker who is HCPC registered. You will know about statutory social work practice and completing complex assessments and ideally have experience of working in a supervisory role or assessing role within a Fostering Agency.

Experience of using a wide range of social work techniques with children and families will also be of benefit. Your technical talents should come with a calm, organised approach. You will be supporting others in a crisis and using your initiative to solve issues. You will also have the communication skills to present high quality reports to panels and work with other agencies. You will also need sound IT skills too and be a capable professional.

Join us, and take advantage of a generous rewards package plus the chance to learn, train and progress. You can also expect a manageable and varied caseload. Find your greatness by helping children excel with the help of Foster Carers.

Central Bedfordshire Council has its own vision and values that are integral to everything we do. Our area vision is to make Central Bedfordshire 'A great place to live and work’.
