Are you about to graduate with a degree in Planning or Geography and looking for your first career opportunity? Wokingham Borough Council is looking to recruit a technical planning application validation officer in our busy planning application team, within the Place & Growth directorate.

We are looking for someone eager to learn more about planning and can teach you how to validate planning applications. We need someone with strong communication skills and a customer focused approach and in return we can offer day release to attend university and fund your masters degree in Planning.

The role is in a busy but small team and your primary duties will comprise of the validation and processing of a wide range of planning applications, enquiries and correspondence. There is currently a pay award pending for this role.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:-
- An understanding of development management legislation and policies
- Some experience in assessing plans desirable but not essential
- A can-do attitude; trustworthy, dependable and delivers on what is promised
- A desire to improve their skills, knowledge and experience.
- An ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues internally & externally as well as support agents and applicants with their application submission.
- An efficient, effective and consistent processing and resolution of case work.
