Brighton College, named “UK’s School of the Decade” in 2020 by The Sunday Times, is seeking to appoint a newly created position of Head of Energy and Sustainability. This is a full-time, permanent role paying £50,000 per annum.
This is a new key role for the College that sits within the Building Projects team, although will act as the champion for coordinating and monitoring all sustainability initiatives across the whole school.
A key aspect of the new role will be to help define and develop the College’s environmental strategy, and work closely with relevant teams to then deliver that strategy in the years to come. The strategy will cover energy efficiency and water usage across the school’s buildings, areas to be prioritised for capital investment, carbon evaluations across the College including transport and food consumption, the transition to electric for school minibuses and other vehicles, and other relevant areas. The College’s aim is to be sector leading on sustainability initiatives.
Working closely with and reporting to the Head of Projects, the successful candidate will have a passion for environmental sustainability, have proven experience in the Facilities Management field, with good understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems, together with strong IT, budgetary and general managerial skills.
