This includes major town centre development /revitalisation/strategy work, projects and developments to the current major schemes in Burgess Hill to deliver in the region of 3500 new homes and major new town centre retail development. Junior Estates Surveyor (COTD094)
Salary £29,577 pa - £32,910 pa + car allowance up to £1,239 pa
This wide-ranging role provides a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate, with both mentoring and on the job training available should the suitable candidate wish to pursue their career as a qualified surveyor.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree level qualification and ideally an RICS Accredited degree, however, this is not essential and should not discourage an applicant with the relevant experience. Experience within the property industry is essential, with a commercial focus being preferable.
As a Junior Surveyor your day to day activities will be primarily focused on providing senior members of the Estates Team support, although there will be an expectation for you to have your own case list where you will be the primary lead. The Estates team’s aim is to ensure that the Council’s property assets remain efficiently managed to maximise income, mitigate losses and ensure that public and community needs are met.
The role includes carrying out property inspections, assisting with sales, acquisitions, lease/licence renewals, rent reviews, managing external consultants, valuations and dealing with applications to assign and sublet and a range of estates related cases such as managing requests for wayleaves and easements.
You will be working within a team, as well as with external consultants. You will be one of the Business Unit’s property advisors and a contact for relevant issues, so sound knowledge and good communication skills are key requirements.
You will also have some knowledge and experience of property and estates management.
Possession of a full driving license is a pre-requisite together with the use of your own car for use on Council business.
