What the Building Control team does
Building Regulations are national standards for the design and construction of buildings, to ensure safety, energy conservation and access for people with disabilities. They apply to most building work, whether new, alterations, extensions or change of use.
Our building control officers ensure that buildings are built in accordance with the building regulations and associated legislation.
Our building control team delivers a successful award-winning service in direct competition with the private sector, providing our residents with safe, energy efficient and accessible homes helping to make Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work.
We’re also responsible for street naming and numbering; for example, if someone wants to give or change the name of their home or business property or create new addresses for a development, this is carried out in consultation with Developers, Town or Parish Councils, Royal Mail and other organisations.
More about the role:
The Technical Administrator plays a vital part in the team and has responsibility for processing street naming and numbering applications from start to finish, arranging repair and replacement of street signs, responding to land charge searches, registering and processing building control applications, raising invoices, taking telephone payments and assisting customers on the telephone and by email with their enquiries once trained.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable person to provide exceptional administrative support to the building control team in addition to a high level of customer service and flexibility in their response to a wide range of duties and interactions with a variety of people daily.
This job is challenging and rewarding, the candidate will need to have excellent IT and communication skills and be able to prioritise their own work on a day-to-day basis.
As part of this role, you will need to have a valid driving licence and access to your own transport.
