About us
The Shared Internal Audit Service (SIAS) delivers a range of assurance and other services to several public sector bodies within Hertfordshire, including local councils, schools and some independent organisations. We are a successful and respected internal audit partnership with the objective of being at the leading edge of audit service delivery. We are hosted by Hertfordshire County Council and work closely with seven district and borough Councils.

As a member of our team we will challenge, stretch and inspire you. Your voice will be heard, your opinions will be valued, and right from the start you will get involved and have a say in what we do. Your experience with us will allow you to build a lasting career with valuable skills and knowledge for your future. With ambition and outstanding performance, there is the potential to rise to the highest levels in the team.

The opportunity
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop leadership and managerial skills in the dynamic profession of internal audit whilst working for an established shared service. This is a unique opportunity to develop the newly created role to meet the needs to our clients

We are offering

  • Excellent career progression opportunities
  • Learning and development opportunities

  • A competitive starting salary.

Who we are looking for
As a key position within the Service, you must have demonstratable experience of working in an Internal Audit function (a shared service is desirable) and hold appropriate qualifications. Experience of managing or leading staff is also preferable as the role involves motivating, training and developing our audit trainees.

We are also looking for someone that will conduct strategic and complex audits and investigations independently. Communication is key as you will be required to engage with officers and Members at all levels of our client organisations.

As an individual, you will have strong credibility, excellent team working skills, be personally resilient, and build positive working relationships.

The role
You will be responsible for supporting the Head of SIAS and Client Audit Managers to manage the delivery of our client plans. You will line manage, coach and train our new cohort of Trainee Auditors (with the support of Client Audit Managers) providing them with the knowledge and skills to build a successful career in Internal Audit.

You will work closely with the Head of SIAS and Client Audit Managers to ensure that quality standards are achieved and improved across the partnership. You will work closely with our Client Audit Managers to lead and motivate employees across the entire service, encouraging them to deliver excellence.

Whilst the role is challenging, it is key to supporting the service to provide excellent assurance services to our partners and clients.
