Central Bedfordshire Council is exited to offer a job opportunity within the Housing Inclusion, Specialist Accommodation team. The team is an integral part of the wider Housing Services and lies within the Social Care, Health and Housing Directorate. In Central Bedfordshire we want to support vulnerable customers with their housing needs and bring an end to homelessness. We are a substantial yet cohesive team, and together are responsible for delivering excellent accommodation-based support to the Housing Inclusion, Supported Accommodation schemes within the Council’s stock, and are instrumental in the prevention of homelessness. In addition, we also provide community-based housing support including a rapid re-housing pathway and a Supportive Intervention service for rough sleepers or those at risk of rough sleeping. Together we can work with our customers to enable them to create their own unique pathways which meet their needs, secure positive outcomes and meet their aspirations. We are recruiting to an Independent Living Officer (Grade 7) post within Housing Inclusion for the Specialist Accommodation team.

The role is to provide building management and support customers across the range of supported accommodation schemes, including Chalkhill Gateway, Ashwell Gateway, Puddlehill Gateway and satellite properties.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled individual. You should be able to communicate, advocate and negotiate effectively to produce results that enable our customers to live well independently. You will also be required to take part in the Out of Hours on call rota for Independent Living. To apply for this post, you will need basic building management experience along with the ability to emphasise with and support customers throughout the accommodation-based support schemes.
