Commercial Property, Wokingham Borough Council
Wokingham is a great place to live and an even better place to do business. We are a forward-looking Council delivering an ambitious estate management, property development and investment programme.
The Commercial Property Division provides professional property services to the Council’s diverse operational and commercial portfolios. The operational portfolio comprises a wide range of property assets crucial to the delivery of the Council’s front-line services. The commercial portfolio comprises a mixture of retail, office, leisure, and agricultural holdings with a sizeable number of seedbed industrial and workspace units. The portfolio is growing and changing as the Council’s retail and leisure regeneration projects come to fruition.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Estates Technical Support Officer to join our newly restructured and forward-thinking Commercial Property division.
Estates Unit Technical Support Officer - Grade 7
The Estates Unit Technical Officer will join the Estates Team working on a varied caseload across the Estates Unit and its property assets. Day to day responsibilities will include the management and maintenance of the Estates Unit’s central property records system as a ‘superuser’ including use of Technology Forge data management and GIS system.
The role also includes preparation of Land Registry plans for leases and other property interests using GIS, administration of the Right to Buy process and drawing up accompanying plans, dealing with property ownership enquiries via the Council’s own property terrier records and via Land Registry searches, granting of property licences relating to Council’s land for access, garden licenses etc. and dealing with encroachments.
The role will include other duties as required and so the successful candidates will have a flexible attitude to their work and demonstrate a willingness to learn and to take on new tasks.
We welcome applications from general practice estates surveyors in both the private and public sectors; commercial acumen is prerequisite. Candidates should be suitably experienced or working towards their relevant professional qualification with proven expertise in a broad range of general practice estate management disciplines and property sectors relevant to each role. The successful candidates must be team players, persuasive, articulate and confident enough to hold their own in the fast-moving commercial environment.
Applicants should possess good IT, communication and customer service skills and be willing to work flexibly across a variety of disciplines and teams.
