More Information

Finance Specialist

Folkestone & Hythe is an extraordinary place to live, work and visit. With an established arts and cultural hub and unrivalled regeneration, including the Garden Town Otterpool Park, the area is well connected, with London just under an hour away via the High Speed rail link and access to mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel.

While our modern offices are in the heart of Folkestone, with easy access to transport links, local shops, entertainment facilities and the seafront, we have a flexible working culture that supports and encourages remote working where possible. Recognised by Best Companies as an outstanding organisation to work for, we have a real focus on staff engagement, health & wellbeing and development, and offer a benefits package that includes corporate membership and reward schemes, an Employee Assistance Programme and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Supporting and advising on all finance related activity within the council and our associated organisations, you will be involved in a range of projects and work with a variety of stakeholders. You will manage and co-ordinate a variety of data, schedules and processes such as budget setting, monitoring and year-end closedown, as well as undertaking various reconciliations. You will also assist in the preparation of annual budgets, preparing consolidated summaries and written reports to be presented to senior management and Members.

You will need to have extensive experience of working in a financial environment, an excellent understanding of the relevant legislation and regulations, and the ability to analyse complex financial data and present that in a meaningful way to non-financial recipients. Attention to detail and accuracy is, of course, also paramount. But above all else, if you’ve got excellent organisation and co-ordination skills, are a team player but with ability to operate on your own initiative, and are excited by our large and challenging agenda, then we want to hear from you.

The closing date for receipt of all completed application forms is 12 pm on 6th December 2021.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role please contact Cheryl Ireland, Chief Financial Services Officer on 01303 853213 or via
