More Information

Principal Environmental Health Officer

At Epsom & Ewell, we aspire to deliver high quality services to our residents. We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of 80,000 residents. We are investing in our future, increasing strategic capacity, and exploring new ways of working.

Our long-term vision for the Borough tells us where we want to be and how we’re going to get there. This new role will be crucial to delivering that vision and the aspirations of local people, as well as driving forward key deliverables from our Four Year and Recovery Plans.

The Principal Environmental Health Officer Role is key to the delivery of the full range of Environmental Health services including Private Sector Housing, Food Hygiene, Pollution Control and Health & Safety.

The role involves the management of a team of five professionals and the handling of a case load of the more complex cases in all the Environmental Health areas. Ideally you would have recent experience of all the professional disciplines but where this is not the case, familiarisation training will be provided.

This is an ideal opportunity to take a step into the management of a busy Environmental Health team and to take a lead role in the Council’s statutory and discretionary duties in environmental and public health.

In return, we offer excellent office accommodation five minutes’ walk from Epsom railway station, heavily subsidised parking if needed, an attractive salary, performance related pay, CIEH subscription fees and eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is an equal opportunities employer.

Closing Date: 5 December 2021

Interview and Assessment: 9 December 2021
