Residential Support Worker

Parklands is a Short Breaks Children’s Home operated by Medway Council, offering two services, one being overnight respite and the other being the after-school club.

Parklands is designed for children with disabilities, learning difficulties and complex health needs.

We are seeking to recruit 2 Residential Support Workers to join an existing team providing a high level of care to children and young people aged 5- 18 years of age.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide personal, health, social and domestic care to the children and young people in accordance with their care plans.

The role includes administering medication, undertaking personal care, enabling, and supporting young people to make choices and maintaining accurate case records.

You will have an awareness and understanding of safeguarding children and young people, and an understanding of challenging behaviours and the ability to deal with such behaviours.

You will have previous experience of supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and complex health needs.

You will be working alongside the After School Club supporting where necessary.

Successful applicants should also hold a full driving licence and be willing to drive a minibus as required. Training is provided.

There will be an extensive amount of training opportunities both online and directed learning. Ideally you will already hold a Level 3 NVQ in Children and Young People in Residential or a willingness to work towards this qualification.

Successful applicants will be expected to work various shifts on a flexible 4-week rota, which includes evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
