An exciting opportunity to work in our Food Safety Team and train to eventually become a Food Hygiene Inspector undertaking a range of food hygiene & safety related work in food premises. You will also gain experience of working in other regulatory areas within Public Protection. The successful candidate will shadow other experienced officers undertaking a range of Regulatory Compliance inspections and interventions, principally within the Food Team. As well as assisting with inspections, they will also be expected to help with food sampling programmes, food complaint investigations and the processing of new food business registrations. They will also work with Public Protection colleagues covering Pollution Control, Health & Safety, Licensing and Trading Standards areas. At the end of the initial 2 year apprenticeship, we expect the successful candidate to then undertake the CIEH Higher Certificate in Food Control (2 year course) to enable them to fully qualify as an officer competent to undertake a range of Food Premises inspections and other key enforcement and compliance interventions.
Please note that you must have a full valid driving licence and use of a vehicle for this post as you will be driving for business use on a regular basis. You will be asked to confirm this at interview.
