Travel will be required within Surrey, in particular, Spelthorne, Elmbridge and Epsom and Ewell

Family Support Programme

Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell and Spelthorne Borough Councils have joined together to deliver the Family Support Programme on behalf of Surrey County Council.

The North East Surrey Family Support Team is part of a wider Family Service to support families with children aged 5 -18 that are the most vulnerable.  The programme will provide targeted help, building on the Family Resilience model, based on early intervention and support.

The Family Support Team is part of a local integrated system and a wide range of partners that build family resilience, improving the life chances of the most vulnerable children.

The Family Support Team achieves this by:

  • Offering targeted help to support families at the right time as part of an early help plan;
  • Coordinating targeted help and taking the lead practitioner role where appropriate for families needing a multi-agency response;
  • Participating in a multi-disciplinary plan as part of specialist support for   

     families in crisis.

  • Contributing to a co-ordinated borough/district parenting offer for families;
  • Working in partnership with Family Centres, Targeted Youth Support and Children’s Social Care to meet the needs of the whole family.

Candidates

We are looking for a highly motivated and forward thinking Head of Family Support to lead a passionate and committed team.  This role will provide leadership and operational oversight of a range of services including family support, resettlement of refuges and social work placements. 

You will be an experienced team manager with a background of working with vulnerable children, families, statutory and voluntary agencies preferably within Early Help and Social Care Services.  You will have a demonstrable commitment to multi-agency working as a way to support families.

You will have an excellent understanding of the interventions that can support families to make changes and improvements together with developing new ways of working that can bring about positive change to families.

Being skilled in building and maintaining positive relationships, effective communication, teamwork and able to evidence sound concise judgement is essential.

As well as being educated to degree level or equivalent, you will hold a recognised, relevant professional vocational qualification in Social Care, Housing, Education or Youth Work.
