As a designated Safeguarding Social Worker within the Assessment and Treatment Service you will undertake person centred triaging and Section 42 Safeguarding Investigations for service users and their carers, in line with the Care Act 2014. You will work within a mental health multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of safeguarding duties placed upon us by the Care Act, providing advice to colleagues and partner agencies and other tasks related to the provision of Mental Health Services. These duties will relate to individuals, families and carers in accordance with relevant statutory legislation.

About the role

Warranted Approved Mental health Act Professionals (AMHPs) will be encouraged to take part in the rota arrangements for the AMHP provision across the city. The AMHP service operates from the AMHP team’s base at Millview Hospital in Hove. A market supplement of £1,5030 p.a. is paid for 30 days a year on this rota, subject to satisfactory adherence to the 2008 Regulations for AMHPs.
You will receive regular supervision and support and have opportunities for ongoing development.
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Providing advice to staff about proportionate and personalised responses to service users and their carers.
- Helping to embed consideration of strengths and relationship based practice in all of our assessment processes.
- Providing a specialist view and/or intervention in the assessment and management of risk
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified social worker.
- Confident in their knowledge and experience of safeguarding vulnerable adults and the assessment of risk.
- Have an understanding of the importance of information and advice in supporting people to maintain their own independence and wellbeing

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
