More than just an ordinary local authority, the City of London Corporation (CoLC) is the governing body of the Square Mile, a global business hub. Our traditions may be centuries-old, but our business practices are cutting edge ̶ and that includes our approach to corporate strategy. The Corporate Strategy & Performance Team (CSPT), led by our Chief Strategy Officer, will ensure cohesion between the different elements of the City Corporation as we move forward.
Managing risk effectively is a critical element of our future strategy, balancing enterprise and innovative approaches to challenges and opportunities with appropriate controls. As the City Corporation’s lead officer for risk management you will be responsible for overseeing and embedding the CoLC Corporate Risk Management Strategy with its associated framework, culture, policies, processes and procedures.
A senior member of the Corporate Strategy & Performance team, you’ll gain a unique perspective of both the CoLC’s key risks and its corporate priorities and will use this in your role as a trusted advisor on departmental risk. You will regularly interact with Elected Members, Senior Officers and others in the City Corporation to provide them with expert risk management input and guidance, playing a crucial role in our overall governance processes and in identifying and mitigating any threats to delivery of CoLC’s vision and outcomes.
Most likely working at a senior level in a large and complex organisation, you’ll have comprehensive knowledge of risk management and how this impacts corporate delivery. You’re able to demonstrate a systematic approach to the identification, assessment and mitigation of business risk, including the use of up-to-date risk management methodologies. Your highly developed written and verbal communication skills mean you can instil confidence and exert influence at the most senior levels.
You are either a fully qualified member of the Institute of Risk Management (or similar) or have relevant risk experience from your current or previous roles. Any candidates without a risk qualification will be expected to attain one on arrival in post and will be supported to do so.
This role is offered on a full-time basis. We are open to considering applications for job share, flexible working and compressed hours working.
Please contact 020 7332 3978 (24-hour answerphone) quoting reference number TC1009 if you experience any problems with your application. A minicom service for the hearing impaired is available on 020 7332 3732.
We’re committed to equal opportunities at The City of London, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
A Market Forces Supplement of up to £7,000 per annum is paid in addition to the annual salary (which may be withdrawn, reduced or increased)
