The Looked After Children Health Service is essential to this ambition, as this high-performing multidisciplinary team work collaboratively with children and young people who are at risk of harm, those who are looked after, and families where children are in need. Join us in this most essential of services, and you will provide a highly valued backbone of support to Social Work colleagues who are navigating deeply complex situations.  

The Role:

Working within our Family & Children’s Services team, you will be based at Olive House residential home, where you will work with up to six children aged between 11 and 17. With the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of these incredibly vulnerable youngsters and their families with your innovative therapeutic interventions, you will join us for one day a week (or two half days) where you will support both the young people and their families and carers. Identifying how and where you could make the changes needed to provide them with better life outcomes, you will take a therapeutic and systemic approach to working with them, and keeping them safe from harm. With the chance to provide a consultation service to a wide range of people who involved in the lives of these young people – ranging from Social Work colleagues through to residential staff, and health and education professionals – this is a great opportunity to bring your most creative ideas to a broad audience, and in the process, you may be able to prevent family or placement breakdowns.

About You:

To make the most of this exciting opportunity, you will need to be able to hit the ground running. We are therefore looking for a qualified and registered Family Therapist. With experience of working with teenagers and adolescents, ideally within a social care context, you will bring plenty of patience to the role, and you will be well-versed in the varied needs of children, particularly those who are from black and minority ethnic groups, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. With the capacity to assess high risk situations, you will have the confidence to produce comprehensive reports and act as an expert witness within court if needed.
