Referral Co-ordinator

Referral Coordinator – Adult Safeguarding Hub (Grade 6)

12 month  Secondment opportunity or Fixed Term Contract

Do you enjoy working in a fast paced and supportive environment and have a passion for working with those most vulnerable to abuse and neglect?

Do you have a minimum of two years’ experience working in an Adult Social Care context?

The Adult Safeguarding Hub is offering a one-year secondment or fixed term contract for a Grade 6 Referral Coordinator.

The successful candidate would work with the Duty Practitioner or Senior Social Worker to manage the busy Duty and Triage function and perform the following functions:

  • Provide advice, guidance and signposting to the public, internal and external partners, and other stakeholders in a Safeguarding context.
  • Triage and respond to incoming Adult Safeguarding referrals.
  • Liaise with others and collate information to support decision-making around threshold decisions.
  • Undertake dynamic risk assessment in relation to incoming referrals.
  • Undertaken urgent visits under the guidance of the Duty Senior to gather information, assess situations and support decision-making.
  • Undertake some fast-track Initial Enquiries under Sec 42 of the Care Act 2014.
  • Participate in and support organisational abuse enquiries when required.

This is an excellent role for someone who wishes to build on their current experience and develop their confidence and competence at working in this complex area of work.

Whether it be with a view to developing a specialism for yourself, or in the context of taking what you learn back into another service or organisation – the Safeguarding Service is committed to supporting and developing you as a practitioner.

The work is challenging and fast-paced, but interesting and no two days are ever the same.

Wokingham Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, other workers and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates for this role will be subject to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks along with other relevant employment checks. Wokingham is an equal opportunities employer.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact Pauline Swan. Please note for a secondment, you will require support of your Head of Service.
