Duties of the post:

Are you passionate about people?
Do you believe that everyone has a hidden strength and just needs some help to discover it?
Are you committed to supporting individuals to become healthier, more resilient and happier?
Then a Social Prescriber role within Going Local may be the perfect job for you!
Going Local has been operating in Adur and Worthing since 2016. Thousands of people have been referred to find out ‘what matters to them’, as opposed to ‘what is the matter with them’, enabling them to deal with issues that often include housing, mental health, money advice, lifestyle issues, loneliness, volunteering and addiction support, amongst many others.
We’re looking for a triage Social Prescriber to join the team for a 12 month period.
Being an integrated part of the GP practices and the wider Primary Care Network family, the post-holder will be expected to work flexibly, across a number of sites and be confident in building rapport with staff at all levels.
If you’re passionate about people and have excellent core communication skills for working with our service-users and our many partners, this could be the job for you!
You’ll need to be good at prioritising, efficient with your time, a good navigator - of both people and agencies and tenacious - we need clear case-notes, good diary management and attention to detail.
You must have client-facing experience as well as sound motivational interviewing skills and be a great ‘active’ listener.  We’ll help you develop these and other skills, making sure we’re the best for the people we’re supporting in our local communities and that your personal development continues to flourish.
So if giving people help and pointing individuals in the right direction towards living healthier and happier lives sounds right up your street, please apply today.
Please note, your supporting statement should include, with examples, all the areas specified in the accompanying job specification.
DBS Enhanced with Adult barred list check will be required.
For any questions or an informal conversation about the role, please email Tom Visconti,
This post is for a period of 12 months maternity cover, should the substantive postholder wish to return to their post earlier or later than anticipated, then this temporary appointment would cease upon their return to work with relevant notice given.

Staff are our most important asset and we therefore have a benefit package which reflects our continuing commitment to our employees.  This includes:

  • Generous leave entitlement; a minimum of 25 days + Bank Holiday entitlement
  • Local Government Pension
  • Training & development
  • Occupational Health
  • Employee AssistanceProgramme (EAP)
  • Flexible working options

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Staff work in a supportive and safe environment, recognising their responsibility to value and respect each other’s contributions. Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no-one is harassed, bullied or victimised. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, staff engagement forums and are keen to hear from applicants from a variety of different backgrounds.
