Team Leader (Development Management)

Hinckley and Bosworth is a fantastic environment for ambitious professional planners to gain a breadth of experience across a multitude of projects, ranging from regeneration to conservation, rural to urban, and residential to employment and major infrastructure projects. The Local Plan is being developed for submission and large scale developments underway, this is a great time to join a busy, thriving team.

An opportunity has become available for a dynamic and ambitious person looking to further their career and join as a Team Leader. You’ll quickly become an important and highly valued member of our management team, overseeing a team of planners with delegated authority to determine planning applications.

You’ll have a caseload of our more complex planning applications and appeal casework.  The Development Management Team currently has about 60 major planning applications and is key to the delivery of growth in the borough. The team handles 600 major applications per year – more on average than other surrounding authorities. As part of that team, you’ll be key to leading the delivery of significant place making developments, such as the sustainable urban extensions at Barwell and Earl Shilton, which are expected to deliver over 4000 new homes and key community infrastructure.

We will look to you for ideas to make our service better and help you capitalise on your interest to work with our local communities and other stakeholders to deliver the council’s priorities. With plenty of scope to be involved in other projects, this is the opportunity to make your mark on Hinckley and Bosworth!

We encourage flexible working and most staff work in a hybrid manner with two days a week in the office. We recognise that people are our biggest and most valuable asset and are key to achieving our goals. To support our staff we provide a comprehensive benefits package and foster a positive working environment. Hinckley and Bosworth has a great community and you can see more about living and working in the Borough on our website.

If you feel you can meet this challenge, we would like to hear from you!
