Principal Planning Officer (Major Projects)

Hinckley and Bosworth is a fantastic environment for ambitious professional planners to gain a breadth of experience across a multitude of projects, ranging from regeneration to conservation, rural to urban, and residential to employment and major infrastructure projects. The Local Plan is being developed for submission and large scale deveopments underway, this is a great time to join a busy, thriving team.

An exciting role has arisen to lead on the delivery of major development  projects and key infrastructure within the borough. This post is key to promoting and managing regeneration initiatives for major commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure sites. .  The Development Management Team currently has about 60 major planning applications and is key to the delivery of growth in the borough. As part of that team, you’ll be key to leading the delivery of significant place making developments, such as the sustainable urban extensions at Barwell and Earl Shilton, which are expected to deliver over 4000 new homes and key community infrastructure. The team handles 600 major applications per year – more on average than other surrounding authorities. You will also support the implementation of the  Council’s Economic Regeneration Strategy and lead on the monitoring of the residential housing supply.

Working in partnership with business communities, stakeholders and a range of organisations is seen as key to continuing the economic recovery of the borough so you must be good at establishing and maximising returns from such relationships. You will be expected to work proactively and communicate effectively with Elected Members and professional colleagues, including our Planning Policy, Development Management and Property team.

We encourage flexible working and most staff work in a hybrid manner with two days a week in the office. We recognise that people are our biggest and most valuable asset and are key to achieving our goals. To support our staff we provide a comprehensive benefits package and foster a positive working environment. Hinckley and Bosworth has a great community and you can see more about living and working in the Borough on our planning jobs page.

If you feel you can meet this challenge, we would like to hear from you!
