The Falkland Islands Health Service is looking for doctors to work across primary and secondary care, based at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Stanley.  This post involves undertaking General Practice work and clinics, providing in-patient medical care for a 23-bed ward and also providing cover in our small casualty.  You will be part of a team of seven doctors made up of Medical Officers/GP’s, a Consultant Surgeon and Anaesthetist.  Intra partum obstetrics is an essential part of this role and the GP should have at least DRCOG (or equivalent) qualifications and be confident to undertake intrapartum decision making and be able to perform basic instrumental deliveries.

The Person

We are looking for a doctor with MRCGP and DRCOG, or equivalent qualifications, who is registered with the GMC, or who holds registration with a recognised national body which would entitle them to registration with the GMC.

The successful candidate should be a GP with some additional experience in secondary care medicine.  ATLS, ALS, APLS and ALSO (or recent obstetric update training) qualifications would be an advantage, however this training could be arranged prior to arrival for the successful candidate.

The Package

  • Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years.
  • Salary £150,000 per annum.
  • 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave).
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights Package, for you and any recognised dependents residing with you at post both at the beginning and end of contract, along with additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract.
