More about the role:

We want Central Bedfordshire to be a great place to live and work.  That means giving our communities an outstanding service. As a Technical & Building Services Officer, you’ll find your greatness as you support Leighton Buzzard Centre – and provide local people with a much-loved and valued resource.

In this key role, you’ll keep our Library Theatre running smoothly as well as providing support for activities in the library. You’ll help manage all technical requirements for Leighton Buzzard Theatre, including the delivery of live performances/cinema screenings in accordance with Distributor agreements and legislation.  

You will supervise a team of casual staff and assume responsibility for Front of House to ensure a great experience for our customers. You will also be responsible for caretaking and keep the whole Centre in good condition, and you will support activities in the library ensuring that room bookings and other events run smoothly.

We’re looking for a flexible Theatre Technician who has the relevant skills to provide technical support for our projection, lighting, and sound systems. Knowledge of Health and Safety and building supervision experience is also a must. If you can also provide excellent customer service, supervise staff, communicate, work well as part of a team and guide others, then this could be the role for you.  Join us, and you’ll be part of a hard-working team giving local people a Theatre and Library that’s the very best they can be. 

Although you will be based at one library, you must be able to work flexibly at other libraries if required. The post works on a two-week timetable, including early morning and evening shifts, you will also be expected to work Saturdays.
